I want one. Not because I like .99 cent Android games, but because the Android marketplace is packed with emulators, and I want to load this thing up with games from the PS2 back to the Master System.
Personally, I'd say no. It was released very early in the life cycle. Like Folklore on PS3, the game was great fun, and underrated, but the install base wasn't there. Lots of great games suffer in sales this way. I think both LO and Folklore did fine considering.
I'd like to think so. Don't like 3 iphones come out every year. A console release is actually worth getting exited for.
I've been wanting a true Phantasy Star sequel for two decades. I'll keep wishing on rainbows and unicorns for that one to come true.
If you still have your 360, get Lost Odyssey. Arguably the best JRPG this entire gen.
You have a point, Larry. Used games aren't really that much cheaper than new (speaking strictly of Gamestop.) I don't buy used games, but if I did, I'd probably use eBay, not Gamestop. I also usually don't buy new releases, so many of my purchases are new games, around $20-$30. Still, for those people that want to save a few bucks, I suppose used game sales are helpful. HOWEVER, for me, the issue is selling my used games. I may not want to buy used games, but I'd lik...
Good hell people; it's all about preference. There is no right or wrong. If you use both analogs at the same time (say an FPS) your thumbs are even on the DS3, so maybe the DS3 wins. If the game needs just the left analog & buttons(most other game styles) then your thumbs are better off on the Xbox controller. I prefer the width of the 360 because my pinkies have nowhere to go on the DS3, but I have man hands. PREFERENCE, I'm not right or wrong.
Exactly. It's just a list of 10; there are more out there. However, Lost Odyssey was far and away my favorite JRPG this gen. Xenoblade and Tales of Vesperia are tied for 2nd. (note: haven't played Ni No Kuni yet; that's next on my list)
I believe the PS4 and Xbox720 will also have a rocky start and trail their predecessors. The worldwide economy has plummeted over the last few years. I think the Wii U has done fine all things considered. I don't think games are on peoples priority list when it comes to finances. I'm lucky enough to be financially sound, so I plan on buying all three, but I'm the minority. A lot of parents aren't going crack out $400-$500 so little Timmy can play his video games; whether f...
I thought the genre was fine this gen, not strong, but fine. Each system had some fantastic exclusives. Lost Odyssey for 360 (my personal fav JRPG this gen) Xenoblade for Wii, Ni no Kuni & Valkyria Chronicles for PS3. There is more to list on all systems too.
For an old gamer like me, it'll be tough to beat the glory days of the 8 & 16 bit era.
I'd argue that it is a surge in awesome WRPG's which has taken focus away from the JRPG's. WRPG...
I HATE to be negative, but as AWESOME as Xenoblade is (I even have 2 copies, one sealed), it sold very poorly in the States and EU. People are just starting to see how great it is and are paying $100 a copy since its out of print already. It won't surprise me if this never leaves Japan. Fingers crossed, and rainbows wished upon that it will be released worldwide though.
Very few gamers on this site even know about the original Phantasy Star series; most are only aware of Online. Even if they happen to be old enough, Sega was always getting spanked by Nintendo so Final Fantasy was all most of them knew. But Phantasy Star 1-4 were LEGENDARY for their time. Nei was a very sad death, but I thought Alys was more of a heart breaker(IMHO) PS1 is my fav in the series in all its 8 bit glory; followed closely by PS4. 2 and 3 hold special places in my heart too. ...
Jack has some serious violin skills too.
It'll take Halo 4 to pull me away. Actually, I'm done with Borderlands 2 until they raise the level cap; any XP I get is now a waste.
LOL. Fighting Vipers would be great; maybe a new Sewer Shark :) I'd love to see a TRUE Phantasy Star sequel. The online games are great, but that series rocked the 16 bit world and needs another installment (Phantasy Star 5)
I must be too old school. Terras theme from FF6 for me thank you.

Most of the issues seem to revolve around the PS3 version. I've mostly been playing solo on the 360, and I'm loving it (about 20 hours in) Co-op works great on the 360 too; quick and simple. PC got better with the recent update; maybe I'd wait if you want to go the PS3 route.
I beat Chrono for like the 10th time about six months ago. I just beat Secret of Mana about a week ago for the fifth time. FF6/III again about a year ago. SNES is truly the RPG king. The only reason there would disagrees is because there are a lot of young gamers that never had the 16 bit experience. (Segas Phantasy Stars were awesome too)
Probably THE best new IP this gen if you ask me. I'm glad there is a play counter in the game, because I'm happy to say I've played Borderlands for over 150 hours between all my characters (maybe thats a bad thing)
For all the fanboys that want their console of choice to smash the competition, that's a bad view. Healthy competition is the VERY best thing for any industry. I hope Ninty, MS and Sony all do fantastic this gen. All three consoles are unique to one another, and the success of all improves the quality of gaming for us gamers.
